On 26/11/2024 DIET Gyalshing Celebrated National Constitution Day to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution. Indian Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, and coming into effect on January 26, 1950, serves as the foundational document that defines India’s democratic, secular, and egalitarian framework,the Ministry of Law and Justice stated. NSS volunteer Ms. Birina Gurung gave the speech on the national constitution day followed by the Quiz conducted by Ms. Pratima Lepcha and Preamble pledge by Ms. Dewnee Hangma Limboo. On The event concluded with a brief yet impactful speech by the Principal madam, who urged trainees to be informed and responsible citizens. The celebration was a fitting tribute to the vision of the Constitution, leaving everyone with a renewed commitment to its ideals.
District Institute of Education and Training(DIET)Gyalshing organises the first Teachers' Conference for Gyalshing and Soreng districts Gyalshing, October 30 (IPR): The first District Level Teachers' Conference 2024 of Gyalshing and Soreng districts was organised by DIET Gyalshing under the aegis of Education Department Gyalshing here at the conference hall of Zilla Panchayat Bhawan Kyongsa, today. Mr Mohan Prasad Subba Advisor Education Department Government of Sikkim graced the conference as Chief Guest that had gracious participation of Dr Rabin Chettri Director SCERT Gangtok, Ms Hanna Tamang (Yongzon) Joint Director Education Department Gangtok, Mr PG Bhutia Chief Education Officer Gyalshing, Ms Parmita Rai Principal DIET Gyalshing, Mr Tshering Wangdi Bhutia Principal DIET Gangtok, Ms Bandana Chettri Principal DIET Namchi, Mr Rajesh Thapa Deputy Director Education Gyalshing, Mr Kuldip Sharma Faculty SCERT Gangtok, Dr Chandrani Chettri Assistant Professor SCERT Gangtok, AEO, ADs and DDs from BACs, Principals, Head of Institutions and teachers from schools under Gyalshing and Soreng districts and student trainees from DIET Gyalshing. The conference featured series of technical sessions that had presentation by the authors of the research papers prepared on the subsidiary topics under the theme 'Numeracy and Innovative Pedagogy', 'Language and Literacy' and 'Socio-Emotional and Ethical'. Authors, through the presentation, deliberated on the emerging findings and intervened methodologies for inculcating innovative and immervise teaching practices that had been found to be beneficial for students of the schools in the districts. Chief Guest Mr Subba articulated education as the key aspect that can reshape and rebuild societies. He sensitised on the crucial role of educators and stakeholders in upholding the initiative of uplifting the education sector in the district. He suggested school faculties to embark on out of the box initiative for pushing the students toward achieving greater laurels for themselves and the state. Mr Subba further asserted on the need to allocate innovative approaches in the state and asserted that to mould the upcoming generation interventions in the teaching practices is need of the hour. Speaking to the authors, Mr Subba commended on the exceptional work rendered in favour and further encouraged stakeholders for collaboration to elevate the stature of an education in the state. Dr Chettri, Director SCERT Gangtok, termed that the day is celebrated on the achievements and hard work rendered by the authors aimed at enhancing foundational learning of the students. He briefly mentioned about 'National Curriculum Framewok' that encapsulates all round development of the students and commended DIET Gyalshing for their exceptional implementation of the initiative in the district. Ms Tamang JD Education Gangtok congratulated DIET Gyalshing on successful conduct of the research. She advised to consider for Remedial research and Action research in a parallel paradigm. She emphasised initiating and executing with a proficient approach to teaching methodology. She also commended authors on their exceptional research work and advised keeping the collected relevant data appropriately. She even suggested collaboration with the special educators to allocate needed intervention and advised desiminating the beneficial approach of the initiative. Ms Parmita Rai, Principal DIET Gyalshing, earlier in her welcome address, briefly deliberated on the amendment of the National Education Policy 2020. She believed that the inception of such a conference was the dream come true for the teachers and their aspirations. She also stressed that through such initiative, teachers are now able to further enhance and implement innovative teaching practices in the school with much more efficiency. Ms Rai also informed on the research initiatives performed in the schools of the blocks under both districts and deliberated on the aims and objectives of the conference. She mentioned that each paper presented in the conference will be made available for download through QR scan, making it convenient to access the findings of the research by teachers posted in far flung schools of the districts. She even extended her heartiest appreciation to District Officers, team of principals, and concerned stakeholders for their unwavering support. A total of sixteen papers were presented by the authors across three technical sessions, and after each session, concerned authors further had an interactive session that accumulated an enriched understanding of the research and needed interventions. The programme even included the formal release of the Teacher's Conference Compendium by the present dignitaries. In the first technical session, Chairperson Mr Dhiraj Chettri provided feedback to the authors on paper, "Hands-on Activities as an intervention to improve Numeracy Skills of Class IIi childeren" by Mr. Arpan Pradhan, "Use of Art Integrated Pedagogical Approach" by Ms. Nikkita Pradhan, "Differentiated Instructions as pedagogical approuch" by Ms. Hissey Choden Bhutia, "Using Jolly Phonic as a pedagogical approuch in class I-III" by Ms. Arpana Gurung. In the Second Technical Session, the Chairperson was Ms. Chandrani Chettri and, Title of the Paper and Authors were, "Improving Reading Skills of the Class-III students using vowels" by Mr. Brispati Sharma, " Enhancing English Reading Proficiency of Class IV students" by Mr. Bali Hang Limboo, " Improving Spellings in English of Class-II students" by Ms. Bina Gurung, " Improving Reading skills in English Language of Class-I students" by Mr. Indra Bahadur Kami, " Improving English spellings of Class-IV students" by Mr. Raj Subba, " Enhancing Reading skills in English of Class- V students" by Mr. Ghaghadar Sharma. Later, in the Third Technical Session, Chairperson was Mr. Rajesh Thapa, " Counselling on home and personal hygiene among the girls of Boom Reshi JHS", by Ms. Pendan Ongmu Bhutia, " An intervention to decrease learner's absenteeism" by Ms. Sarina Tamang, " Helping Leon deal with attention deficit" by Ms. Chandrakala Sharma, "Challenges faced by Ms. Priya Limboo, a locomotor difficulty facing child in Class- IV" by Ms. Dipika Rai. Guest Speakers for the conference were Mr Santosh Subba Govt. Junior High School Timrong, Mr. Sudip Subba Govt. Primary School Pewthang, Mr. Krishna Bahadur Rai Govt. Primary School Lethang and Mr. Tika Ram Chettri Govt. Primary School Jhakaridunga delved into various beneficial interventions at their institutions. In the formal felicitation ceremony, DIET Gyalshing honoured the State Awardees and Commendation Awardees with the flower bouquet through the Chief Guest. Chairpersons of the Technical Session were presented with the appreciation souvenir and certificate. Guest speakers were presented with the token of gratitude and certificate. In the valedictory session, paper presenters were also presented with tokens of gratitude and certificates.
In accordance to the directions issued by the HCM during the state level launch of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva ’ Campaign held at Chintan Bhawan on 17th Sept 2024, all Departments are required to take up mass cleanliness drives in their respective office premises on 21.9.2024, which was declared as a ‘Day of Shramdaan’ by HCM. Following the same, teaching, non- teaching staff, and trainees of DIET, Gyalshing dedicated half their day towards cleaning each nook and corners of the institute including their classrooms, staff rooms, library, hall,etc. mainly focusing on the toilet and the garden area. Declared as ‘Single Use Plastic free Institute’ on 5th June, 2023, the members of DIET are always aware of reducing wastes and proper disposal of wastes. Also aware of the burden of just one Safai Karmachari who’s physically disabled, trainees of DIET, Gyalshing are always ready in serving and maintaining the cleanliness of the institute. The opportunity of observing the day as shramdaan for cleanliness, added an enthusiasm and vigour to the teamwork towards cleanliness.
Following a meeting with block level and cluster level education officers at DIET, Gyalshing on 23rd August, 2024 and based on the findings of questionnaires filled in by the PRTs of Soreng and Geyzing District, a need based academic support was provided to the PRTs of Mangalbaria BAC of Soreng district today i.e. 20th September, 2024 at the auditorium of Kamling SSS. The program was organised by the Education Department, Mangalbaria BAC in collaboration with DIET, Geyzing. It was found earlier through questionnaires (sent to all PRTs by DIET, Gyalshing) that majority of the PRTs of Mangalbaria BAC seeked an orientation on the textbooks that has been introduced in all government schools since 2019. Clearing their doubts Mr. Dhiraj Chettri, Ms. Magdolyn Karthak and Ms. Sadhna Gurung, Faculty of DIET, took sessions on the transaction of Maths, English and EVS textbooks respectively for grades 3, 4 and 5. The day ended with a very interactive and fruitful discussions among the teacher participants and the Resource team from DIET, Geyzing including Principal, DIET, Ms. Parumita Rai. The program was attended by the officials from Education Department of Mangalbaria BAC, Mr. IK Rai, AD; Mr. Dinesh Rai,AEO and Mr. Feroz Mukhia, CRC. DIET, Gyalshing under its component of Direct Field Intervention and school improvement, believes that reaching out to blocks, clusters and even schools is the most effective, sustainable and time saving way of providing academic support to teachers. Team DIET wishes the best to all the teachers and officials from the Education Department of Mangalbaria BAC and anticipates that they put in the best of their efforts for bringing in change in the pedagogical practices,eventually achieving the quality in education. 3rd Award Day Ceremony for the outgoing batch of 2022-2024 was organised by DIET, Gyalshing today i. e. on 07.08.2024, at Zilla Bhawan Auditorium, Kyongsa, Gyalshing. The occasion was graced by Director, SCERT, Dr. Rabin Chettri as the Chief Guest, Mrs. Tshering Lhamu Bhutia, Joint Director, SCERT, Mr. M. K. Khewa, Joint Director, District Education Office, Soreng, Mr. Rajesh Thapa, Deputy Director, District Education Office , Gyalshing. Also present were ADs and AEOs from various BACs of Soreng and Geyzing District viz. Mr.kinzang Dorjee Bhutia,AD, Bermoik Martam BAC, Mr. Deependra Sharma, AD, Gyalshing BAC, Mr. Benu Pradhan, AEO,Baiguney BAC, Mr. Bhusan Kharel, Daramdin BAC, Vice Prnicipal Madam Mrs. Anjana Tiwari, Kyongsa Girls SSS. The ceremony began with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest and the special guests . Principal, DIET, Gyalshing, Ms. Parumita Rai welcomed the guests and the outgoing batch by offering khadas. During the event she presented a brief report on the Function and responsibilities of DIET , Programme and activities conducted by DIET for the in service and pre- service teachers , details about the student teachers enrolled and passed out from Mangan, Gyalshing and Soreng District and also the data about the student teachers clearing the STET from the year 2020 onwards i.e. after the implementation of NEP,2020. The first and the third semester trainees presented beautiful cultural programs dedicated to their seniors of which,the skit on the theme FLN was very enlightening and informative. Other cultural activities included Self composed Rhymes ,choir songs and Nepali dances. A token of gratitude was also presented to Director,SCERT for his continued support and guidance towards DIET Gyalshing. Along with their diploma certificates,trainees who excelled in different areas were awarded with certificates and trophies under the following categories: Best sportsperson- Mr. Binay Chettri Best Cultural performer- Ms. Sumbona limboo Most Disciplined student of the session- Mr. Prasan lepcha Most regular trainee of the session-Mingma Doma Sherpa Over all highest marks scorer- Sonu hangma Limboo All rounder trainee of the session- Ningsang limboo Having a strong conviction that the trainees would be moulded into excellent teachers in the future , the chief guest,Mr.Rabin Chettri, in his speech encouraged the outgoing and the present trainees and also appreciated the efforts and hard work put in by the trainees and staff members of the entire institution for hosting a grand Award Day Ceremony. He appreciated the trainees for their self- composed rhymes and gave an advice to share the same in the social media platform so that the children living in other parts of the state can be benfitted . He also congratulated the out going batch 2022-2024 for reaching their milestone. Mrs. Tshering Lhamu Bhutia, Joint Director, SCERT, in her speech blessed the outgoing trainees and wished them the best for their future endeavours and encouraged them to be more creative and develop the skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, etc. as teachers. Khewa, Joint Director, DEO, Soreng in their speech congratulated the trainees and stated that it is a day of celebration to recognize the achievements of the out going batch. On 24th July,2024, the induction program for the 2024-2026 freshers’ batch of DIET, Gyalshing was held at the institute. The occasion began with the welcome address by Ms. Matrika Thapa,faculty of Nepali. We welcomed all the parents warmly and commenced the programme. Ms.Parumita Rai, Principal of the institute, addressed the parents /guardians and congratulated all the 1st semester teacher trainees for being selected for the D.El.Ed course. She welcomed the freshers and spoke about utilising the two year period at DIET for becoming resourceful teachers in the future who would be helpful to the state and the nation. She also elaborated on the details of the course and its significant role in laying the foundation for their teaching career in becoming an elementary teacher. Further, the teaching faculty and non teaching staff were introduced to enable the freshers and parents/guardians to know their faculty members and administrative staff of the institute. Likewise, parents and guardians of the student trainees were also introduced briefly along with the trainees in an effort to get to know each other better . An introduction on DIET, Gyalshing was given by Ms.Matrika Pradhan, who briefed about the institution and its affiliation .She highlighted on the roles and functions of DIET and the details of the course undertaken by the Teacher trainees. An introduction on the curriculum of DIET was given by Ms. Sadhna Gurung, Lecturer Science focusing on the papers to be undertaken in all the semesters and SIP(School Internship Programme). Ms.Seema D.Tamang, Lecturer Physical Health and Education briefed on the importance of the inclusion of Co-Curricular activities with academic curriculum and also encouraged the trainees to take part in various activities that would take place in the institute. Ms.Babita Pradhan, Lecturer English further elaborated on the attendance and discipline to be followed by the trainees as it forms the core aspect of the two years diploma course. Queries from parents were attended to at the end of the programme. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. A.B Sir who on the behalf of DIET,Gyalshing thanked the parents and guardians for taking their time out to attend the induction programme . Under the guidelines of Ministry of Education, Government of India, “Shiksha Saptah” is being celebrated nationwide in all schools and educational institutions with an aim to foster a spirit of collaboration and innovation among learners, educators, policy makers and stakeholders in the education sector. With a view to extend support for Shiksha Saptah activities, among school children, the Department of School Education and Literacy has prepared concept notes and a list of suggestive daily activities to be performed daily w.e.f. 22.07.24 to 28.07.24. As per the suggestions, DIETs at district level are also asked to organise one day activities during the Shiksha Saptah to make it more inclusive and expansive. DIET, Gyalshing celebrated this momentous occasion presenting it significantly with TLM exhibitions, FLN activities, skit, self-composed rhymes and songs on 23rd July, 2024. District officials from District Education Office, Mr Rajesh Thapa, Deputy Director, Mrs. K. Mangar, AEO; Block Officers from Geyzing BAC, Mr. B.B Rai and Mr. K.B Gurung , Assistant Directors along with their Coordinators; teachers from different schools namely Toyang PS , Chongzong PS , L.Bhaluthang PS, Ramitey PS, Sindrong PS, Singtang PS, Khorang PS , Salley PS and Kabirthang PS along with the Principal, faculty members, administrative staff and Pre- Service 1st and 3rd Semester Trainees of DIET, Gyalshing witnessed and involved themselves in the program. Mrs. Parumita Rai, Principal, DIET, Gyalshing set the context of the programme highlighting upon the importance of observing Shiksha Saptha, reiterated on few important points of NEP,2020 and reflected on where we stand as teachers on the completion of 4 years of launch of NEP, 2020. Mrs. Matrika Thapa, Ms. Sadhna Gurung, and Ms. Magdolyn Karthak, Lecturers,DIET, Gyalshing, elaborated on the salient features of NEP, 2020, on FLN and on the use of TLMs, Toy based pedagogy and Jadui pitara respectively. Mr. Rajesh Thapa, Deputy Director, District Education office, Gyalshing, during his speech emphasized on the importance of NEP, 2020. Further, he stressed on the importance of joyful learning as well as preservation of culture, strengthening linkage between education and culture and that the ultimate goal of the education should bring changes in an individual to live a joyful and happy life. The 2 Day Workshop on ECCE Curriculum for Trainees of DIET Gyalshing was concluded today with DAY 2 Learning Experiences. The trainees were divided into two groups i.e. 2nd semester and 4th semester and RPs, Ms Dipika Rai and Ms Sadhna Gurung, Ms Magdolyn Karthak and Ms Ongmula Bhutia took the sessions. Various Learning Experiences from the curriculum was demonstrated and every trainees participated very actively. Learning experience done were: Kun Lhamo Kun Choto Lets Help Sani Mo ko hu? Its Rhyme time Scribbling Roll the dice Dokan Dokan Nature bracelet. The two days workshop was successfully concluded today.
One day orientation programme was organised for HOIs/school representatives of 7 primary schools and 1 J.H.S at DIET, Gyalshing on 15-04-2024 The main objective of this programme was to orient the school heads and school representatives of 7 different schools regarding the forthcoming School Internship Programme for Second Semester trainees starting from 22-04-2024 to 08-05-2024 The 7 participating schools are as follows : 1. Govt. Primary School, Lower Sangkhu 2. Govt . Primary School , Pewthang 3. Govt. Primary School, Leythang 4. Govt. Primary Stchool, Sindrong 5. Govt. J.H.S , Nazar Barfok 6. Govt. Primary school, Singpheng 7. Govt. Primary school, Jhakri Dhunga The second semester trainees will be deputed to 7 different schools for a duration of 15 days to observe school and classroom environment, infrastructure facilities, process of teaching including classroom management, day schedule etc . The level of classroom teaching to be observed are for foundational and preparatory stages During their 15 days SIP, the trainees should also engage themselves in all school based activities. The roles of the assigned schools as well as the role of the trainees were also discussed.Faculties also threw some light on the different School Based Activities(SBA) that each trainee is expected to observe and present it in the form of report writing. We value and appreciate the school heads and representatives of the aforesaid schools for their cooperation and look forward for their positive guidance to our trainees.
